Colin Ross - Liberal Democrat Candidate for Wolverhampton South WestThe House of Lords overwhelmingly rejected the 42 days detention proposals by 191 votes yesterday, as a result the Government have said that the counter-terrorism bill would continue its journey through parliament without the 42 day measure.

Shami Chakrabarti has welcomed the moves saying "Liberty has been overwhelmed by public and parliamentary support for our campaign against the extension. Rest assured that if any government tries again we will be ready,"
