Lorely BurtSolihull's MP, Lorely Burt will buy her Christmas turkey and sprouts from local independent shops again this year in response to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Keep Trade Local campaign.

Mrs Burt has also signed an all-party motion in Parliament calling on fellow MPs to source their Christmas dinner locally by buying their festive feast from independent shops.

Lorely said:

"I very much support the campaign by the Federation of Small Businesses to support local shops. Without local support so many of the independent butchers and greengrocers will disappear from our high streets and shopping parades, so I do what I can to support ours and encourage others to do the same.".

FSB Warwickshire & Coventry Chairman, Bruce Undy, said:

"We are delighted that Lorely has signed up to our campaign. Each year more than 2,000 small shops are forced to close, and in these testing times we fear that number could rise. This Christmas we ask for MPs to support our small shops on our high streets and in our communities. Buying your Christmas dinner locally puts 50 per cent of what you spend back into the local economy, as opposed to only five per cent spent in supermarkets and chain stores."
